CFLs aren't ideal for certain uses (recessed fixtures). But LEDs have really come down in price and improved in quality.

Every CFL i ever had for a recessed fixture performed poorly (tto much heat), but in all other areas CFLs have been much better than incandescent. But LEDs are even better and I get those when I can.
