I went to a bakery last night. Nice place, they have bread and they make birthday cakes. I bought a pastry and sat at one of their tables. They have a large dining area like a restaurant but it's very much cafeteria style. You buy your food at the counter, you bus your own table, etc. The receipt had a place for a tip and even had suggested tips (you know, 12%, 15%, 20%, etc.) I didn't tip. At first I was outraged that they'd be suggesting a tip at a place that's more expensive than fast food, pays their employees more than a fast food joint (I assume), and don't even bus the tables. Now I'm feeling like a cheapskate.
Anyway, the pastry wasn't all that good, and even if it was, I wouldn't be going back there because of this policy. It was an uncomfortable experience. It's a local institution but I'm going to stick to chains like Panera or the grocery store from now on.

Word, no tip. You ordered at a counter, they provided you an already made pastry and you sat at their table. What would the tip be for? For handing
