If he's even the same player as he was last year, (.260/25/100)...he's easily worth $8mil...for a 2nd round pick...

I just looked at the 2nd round picks going back 10 years....from 2003 to 2012.

Assuming there's at least 30 a year (supplementals make it more)....since that time frame, 109 out of let's round 300...have made the majors. Since that point, to basically average 2 WAR a year or better... only 10 have done it.

So a 3% chance to get a legitimate starter out of the 2nd round....regardless of if the 2014 or 2015 draft is better, those odds are worth $8mil for a chance he's still a .260/25 guy in the black hole that is our Left Field / DH spot.

Now it's a shame he can't play 2nd base becuase we're still stuck with fucking Flaherty there. That guy would need to be the love child of Mazeroski and Ozzie Smith to carry how inept he is as a batter.
