I think Katims is probably first call for any network looking to adapt a movie into a tv show.

His tv track record is kind of spotty, at least in terms of success, but his movie adaptations before this were Friday Night Lights and Parenthood.
I can't vouch for his film work, as neither movie (Pallbearer, The Vow) appealed to me.
