religious views get lumped in with hamburger preferences (Wendy's or Burger King?), due to being mostly benign. racism and sexism are hurtful.

Quoting a bible passage is not extremism. Therefore, it is easy to tolerate it and move on.
You don't have to pop a chubby over every single slight that comes your way in life.
