ok, ST . . . time for a little announcement of some import in my pending future life . . .

so, as most of you already know, I'm in college right now, working on my Master's and all that blah blah blah :)

well, at the beginning of the semester, we were told about a school-sponsored conference that the university is putting on on March 22. In one of the classes, we were required to submit an abstract for a paper presentation, mostly for the practice of doing such things. We were told that attendance is mandatory even if we don't present or anything at the conference.

Well, I was just checking my emails, and I have an email from the professor who I guess is one of the conference's coordinators. It appears that I've been selected to be one of the presenters at the conference. Don't know specifics yet as to time of presentation or anything like that, but it looks like I'll have to stand up in front of a crowd of mostly strangers and blather on for 10 - 15 minutes about something and field questions.

next week is spring break, and I was already prepared to spend most of next week studying for tests I have right after break, and working on some assignments for classes. Now, it seems that I need to prep all of the notes etc. that I had for a term paper I am working on for one of the classes (which I'd used the basis of for my abstract for the conference) and put together a short presentation on the subject.

groan . . . I don't like this. I'm stressed out enough over my tests and what not.

And, okay, for those who might be interested in knowing what my presentation will be about . . .

I'm doing a paper / presentation on vampires / vampirism and the cultural connections throughout the last 2,000 years of the development of the Vampire and tie that in to how many of the things we view as characteristics of the vampire can now be explained away medically.
