How does PFF grade players who actively don't get into the play?

I think Sherman had 1 ball thrown his way in the Fan Fran game and he caused the INT....how does their system grade plays where the player actively stops the play coming their way?
I remember Aeneas Williams going games without ever seeing a pass his direction becuase he was so good.
Deion only got balls his way when he'd bait QBs by playing off the receivers so badly, QB's got brave.
