I feel like they're way too focused on character development this half and the story is secondary and moving forward very slowly.
Daryl and Beth aren't/weren't even moving towards someplace. They were just wandering.
They're lazy because of things like having Daryl get caught like that. They could have written that so much better and not in a way that's a big divergence from the way Daryl would actually act.
The best they did was the scene with Rick in the bedroom. Otherwise there's not much to speak of this half of the season.
