It's a $5 million budgeted film that was pre-funded, and had to pay for theater bookings

and had at best 2.5M viewers in a week, and has bee off the air for 8 years. You never get huge conversions of people in the best of times. The X-Files movie opened to 30m when the show was drawing 18 million people a week, which is about a third of the audience.
