Work place gift giving protocol.

So I got some token gifts for my two immediate supervisors from the position I am leaving to say thank you. While neither of them is responsible for me getting my new position, one of them in particular has definitely gone to bat for me more than once as part of my professional development.

Is a token thank you gift at all inappropriate? Would it be seen as weird? What are the chances that it could backfire? I was really only thinking of getting something for the first guy because he was the one who I felt did more towards my professional development, but then I felt like I needed to get the other guy something because I wondered if he would feel resentful. Then I started thinking about whether other people might feel left out that I didn't get something for them and then I started thinking that I was probably thinking too much.

Corporate culture politics is new to me.
