we can't, because we're stuck in an eternal loop that involves time travel, death and the afterlife (even though it was denied) . . .

and human propensity for getting sucked into something because we want to figure out what it means and we don't care if at the very end it turns out to be what we thought it was all along, even though the show's producers are probably still trying to spin this their way . . .
