Based on the dicussions I think a few key pieces of info are missing

1) how much later was it that the dude and the sister started dating? a week, or 6 months to a year. I think this impacts on alot of the comments.
2) how outspoken were the transsister and the parents against the wife/sister? They excluded her for years and called her names or just brought it up every once in a while for a month or two.
Both of these are needed I think to settle alot of the discussions going on.
