That about sums it up.

I do think it is very unfair of Rhonda, who had problems sharing her struggle with gender and sexual identity, to not understand that the man in her life might end up struggling with his own gender and sexual identity when told of her transgenderness. Choosing to avoid that conversation entirely or only having it after intimacy was bound to lead to trouble.

Whether people *should* have hangups about transgender people isn't terribly relevant when dealing with reality and the fact that people *do* have hangups.

Ideally, you work through them together.
