Waaay delayed reaction: I think the "golden age" of rap music ended when they started having rap songs with singing in them

Which is another reason I can see excluding Biggie and Tupac from that set. I remember it so clearly. Rap songs that had r & b singing parts. All that voicy stuff you find in Tupac's songs. And of course Puff Daddy's hooks. Rap music is still a lot like this. That says a lot for Biggie and Tupac's influence, but also shows that they are of this time, not of the past like, say De La or Tribe or Wu.
