Can somebody who's seen the finale explain something about HIMYM to me?

I saw the first several seasons, understand the basic premise, and have been spoiled about the last season and the finale itself.

I just want to know how that fact that they filmed a scene years ago, when certain actors were younger, fits in.

Was it mainly so the kids could be both young and older in the finale? Or was it necessary for scenes with the adult actors too? What made it an idea that the producers went with?

I didn't see it but my guess is that they filmed the scene assuming the series wouldn't last 10 years. - spamlet (droid) Apr 1, 09:23
