The real problem with HIMYM(spoilers)

My biggest problem wasn't with the ending. I'm actually fine with that. My problem is that they spent an entire season on the wedding of a marriage that only lasted 3 years, and ended for no discernible reason. Yet they gave maybe 3 episodes worth to the marriage that actually mattered. Some of that is solved by not going with the "full season over one weekend" gimmick. Take that to the first extended break of the season at the longest, with the end of that being him meeting the mother. And you could still hit most of the important bits (her meeting everyone else first, her singing "La Vie en Rose" on the balcony next to Ted," and I now come across another flaw in the season as I'm unable to come up with a third important thing). They could also eliminate, or at least greatly shorten, the worst part of the season in Marshall's journey with his traveling companion. And then they replace it with the best part of the season (The Mother) by having the rest of the season be about what happens after Ted met her. And in that span is where you put the "How the Mother Met Ted" episode, probably as the first episode back from the break. Maybe that annoys people more if they still kill her off at the end, but maybe actually having some episodes dealing with her illness/death makes it better than the 30 seconds or so they spent on it in the finale.

Those episodes could also give some reasons for Barney and Robin to fail other than her traveling a lot to places where he can't blog boner jokes. Because he can't do that from his phone or can't afford a phone that can also be a hot spot or any of the other ways he should be able to make a blog post.
