Your issue is tied to my last point.

They never showed any of the buildup to their divorce/breakup. They just showed that there was one fight that was about the constant travel, without explaining why Barney doesn't like it other than his inability to update his blog.
Part of it is that they seemed to want us to forget that post-wedding Barney quits his job. Except he referred to his blog as his job. Which, it could be argued, is a job (blogger) where traveling a lot shouldn't be an issue.
