I was wondering how small businesses could afford to pay someone on leave for a year.

Responses:

out of every pay cheque comes an amount for EI, the employer puts in 1.4 times and that covers it plus if you get laid off etc -- nm - Beaker Apr 2, 07:07 2

yep. it is the same as if you got laid off, you get the same amount. but your job is protected for the duration by law as well. -- nm - Andie Apr 2, 07:04 1
