Though you can argue that Erik handing over the necklace shows how strong that alliance was

Rather than deciding on one of their own to take out, they decided on the impossible play of making him give up the necklace. And it worked.

Obviously it was luck that Erik happened to fall for it. But the alliance made its own luck on that play.
