their knowledge. Yet cell phones are legal and using the surreptitiously in some situations isn't legal.
Think how effective that LA system would be at catching a child snatcher or a rapist. And at what cost to you or me? None.
Hell, the US has a standing army of several hundred thousand with enough armaments to level every major city in the US. Yet it hasn't happened and won't.
I hate that people are willing to avoid technology because it *might* be abused. If your worry is abuse then outline how it can be used, criminalize misuse and set up oversight. Don't eschew the tech entirely and miss out on all the good it can do because it can also be used badly.
To borrow from a recent episode of SHIELD, plutonium can power a city or power a bomb to level the same city. Why deny yourself the first use if you can effectively prevent the second use?
