Can't see Palin dropping out of the race as a good news story, even is she's replaced with zombie Ronald Reagan.

It would confirm that McCain had made a huge mistake (what most people now suspect already, validation would only push the few doubters over the edge). And how many Hail Marys can McCain get away with? There just isn't enough time for a plan like this to pan out, anyway.
