"Too many pitches play a part in all these injuries, but why didn't as many injuries occur back when throwing 150 pitches in a game was the norm?"

a part of it is conditioning. a part of it is the amount of time these kids play.

back when pitchers were logging 300 innings, they were expected to pitch alot, so their arms were conditioned as such. Now with specialization and contract amounts, they are being limited to 100 ish pitches, and when they throw 130 in a game, it really fucks them up.
