I liked the portrayal of the military. I didn't buy that they couldn't evacuate all the civilians. Continuity errors: fire trucks in Las Vegas are yellow. And if you're evacuating to Oakland, you go across the Bay Bridge, not the Golden Gate Bridge that's right in the path of the monster.
It was, as I expected, a calling all monsters scenario with Godzilla as the pseudo good guy although he killed plenty of innocents himself. Still, so long as the dog and the little girl survived, that's fine, right?
