I totally agree. To take it a step further (spoils)

leaving Spencer in the game greatly reduced his chance to win the challenge too. Obviously, he didn't win...but Spencer was more of a threat than Woo...so all around...he did what he had to do.

You made the perfect point last night after Spencer contrasted his and Tony's game. Tony may have read people better than anyone in the history of Survivor.

Because he could read people so well, his bad decisions were able to be overcome. He didn't play that flawless game like Spradlin or Heidik. He played a very flawed game...but because he had his finger on what everyone else was thinking or would do...he was able to overcome that.

Spencer made all his decisions as if he were playing against himself. Hence, they didn't work, because the people he was playing against were not as advanced as him.
