sure. the benefits in any sort of setting would be phenomenal

but you're just going to have a hard time convincing people to give up total control of their car to a computer. it's too ingrained in our culture.
the other main challenge is technical, insofar as they ever expect to take this technology onto public roads, they're going to have to program it in a way that accounts for the behavior of other, human drivers.
