And not everyone ends up on the bad side of their exes. Somehow I ended up on terms with all my exes. Only one won't talk to me and that happened a couple years after we broke up. Everyone's different.
Though thereis onevthing more about the finances...you said you both have debt and you're keeping the debt you owe. Now you know what you incurredand what you owe, and your wife does as well, but credit collectors don't care and will consider both yours and should it come to it they will harrass whoever and whichever of you they can. At the very least make sure it is arranged the way you both want it and that you're both protected on that score.
