This will sound odd, but I consider this a parenting win. My 13 year old daughter bought condoms at a gas station. Explanation:

We had the talk with her when she was 8 or 9 and have been very open about answering questions, teaching her how to be safe, etc. And one of the things we told her is "if you are too immature to talk about protection or to buy it and use it, you're too immature to be having sex."
So I'm proud of her for being able to make that purchase and even prouder that she told us and told us she has no desire to use them because she isn't interested in having sex.
And then she and her friends used them for water balloons at her party today. :-)
