Angling for the 1% makes sense, but ignoring (and potentially alienating) the other 99% seems foolish.

The airlines don't make all of their money off of the 1%. Think about all of the regular schmoes who are loyal to an airline and pay extra to keep flying that airline. Will that persists after this? For a good number of people, I doubt it will.

*And* these reduction in earned RDMs are coupled with increases in redemption requirements, so it's really a double dip making the FF programs significantly less worthwhile.

If you want to promote your airline to the 1%, stop being a shitty airline with shitty service and shitty staff.

There's an opportunity for an airline to differentiate it's program here, but Doug Parker will just follow DL and UA down the rabbit hole of shit.
