More than anything else, what Republican strategists need to do is re-evaluate their pollsters.

I've read for years now how Republican politicians in leadership will not do anything until they have seen the polling data, and that sentiment was confirmed during the shutdown microphone slip-up. What they must learn is that if that is their philosophy, they better be confident in their polling data. It offends me as a statistician that people are picking up paychecks for this garbage.
