they are suppose to in Texas but they don't always follow up on it. its the most important part for the accident victim

you'd think the cops would care more.
our parked car was hit by a drunk guy ( handicapped) and we had to find him in the phone book and thankfully he gave us his insurance info - he could have hung up on us - that info was not collected by the police
