hope your injuries and hospital visit were minor.

i also hope this resolves nicely. as per some of the things others have already posted, here's my own 2 bits FWIW . . .

if you have uninsured motorist coverage on your own insurance, they'll take care of going after the guy, i'm sure. either way, I personally would look at going after the guy in court myself. especially if i didn't have uninsured on my own coverage. the fact that this guy was driving a car that wasn't his own? yeah, i'd be looking into that one :)

again, positive thoughts your way in the meantime!
