More Dr. Manhattan/Janey fighty showing that the big blue machine didn't just bail on the woman that stood with him for a younger piece of tail. (If I remember the book better, it was a little murkier with her feeling less and less a part of his life beforehand.)

Explaination of the mask.

Shrink's family life being ruined by becoming involved with Rorsharck.(sp?)

Little more background of people on the street discussing the incoming doom of nuke war for context/period piece flavour.
