I couldn't put my finger on it but Alexandra Dupont on AICN put it sort of that way too.

She used the word "quaint" and to a certain extent it is a notion that we just live in different times and while no one denies that a nuke is likely to go off in a city eventually, the overarching sense of "It's all going to hell," just isn't there to feed off of the way this would have played out in 1985.
