Your first reason doesn't make any sense since he's gonna pitch whether he's at AAA or the majors.

This move doesn't reduce his overall innings.
It appears this has more to do with roster "cuteness" than anything else. They can recall Gausman Friday for the day/night doubleheader then send him right back down. My big problem with this is you risk affecting him mentally by constantly sending up and down.
He's the best pitcher on the team right now. He deserves to stay here, and not be a roster chess piece.
