Minor league games don't matter, so they can limit innings more easily there.

And if you aren't going to take full advantage of him, be it by pulling him early or pushing starts back a day or so, better to do it where games don't matter.
And I would hope that he's smart enough to understand that the move has nothing to do with how well he's pitching. In fact, his pitching well possibly made it more likely to happen.
If he can't mentally handle being sent down to avoid super two status, it's better to learn that now. It's understandable if he's pissed, as it does have a negative impact on him financially. But it's also something that he should have known was coming, and understand the reasoning for the move.
He may deserve to stay up, but he's not the first player who has been in this scenario. And I doubt he'll be the last.
