For anyone who has seen the (now famous) final episode of The Sopranos, I have a few questions. (spoilers)

I remember it being controversial, and I wanted to clarify why it was considered so. Was it because of the final moment, which just ended in black and silence? I remember that final scene had tension, with the guy going into the bathroom (Godfather reference?), and the weird fixation on Med's parallel parking.
Did people have problems with this ending, and if so, why? In your opinion. TIA.
