And now for a little 'look at me'.

After my parents missed their connection earlier, they went to the rebooking center. While they were in line I looked up for available options for them to re-book on but couldn't find anything. By the time the got to the agent, she couldn't find anything either, so my parents got put on the standby list for evening flight. But even worse, they were told that they were on an 'instant upgrade' fare to first class with meant that they would be by on standby for coach (I find this whole thing to be bait and switch since my mom searched for and bought first class)

Anyway, I kept periodically checking the availability of seats for sale on the flight in each fare code (via my not so super secret awesome site that does that). When my parents had been at the rebooking center, all fare codes (in first and coach) were zeroed out. But when I check about 45 minutes ago, there were 2 seats for sale in first class - and they were available in any of the first class fare codes, including the fare code my parents were booked in.

So I called my parents (they were in Friday's and didn't hear the phone) and left them a message: "You are book in fare code P. There are 2 seats now available in P. Call the airline at this phone number and get yourself confirmed"

My parents are confirmed. In first.
