The whole conflict of the movie is that Hoffmann just wants to die and he can't be talked out of it... who cares?
I know that not every movie needs an external antagonist, but it was a children's tale, where's my baddie? You can keep all the cliched self-belief stuff if you want, but give me a *plot*.
