going broke, your answer is the US will pick up the bill.
Either picking up the bill is a good thing in your eyes, or it's a bad thing. You can't argue against letting them fail if your reasoning is it'll cost the taxpayer money, and then argue that they won't fail because the US taxpayer will foot their bill in any case.
