People are starting to see him for what he is rather than what he can be.

That's healthy for him.
Responses:
Part of it is impressive that he's been the chosen one for 5 years; and for the most part, he's lived up to star projections

I agree with your first paragraph but I don't care about fantasy baseball, just reality.

We know exactly what he is. He is a 21-year-old kid telling Matt Williams what his lineup would be.

Well, i'm not sure I'd really consider Matt Williams right all the time after he nailed harper for not hustling while he was hurt

I'll take the judgment of a guy who has been in MLB since the 80s over one who has been in the majors since 2012 any day of the week.

I don't agree with Harper....but I also ain't going to say it's without merit.

It is and I said as much when it happened. The other aspect is that Williams was brought in to be hard on Harper and teach him how to be great.

You can be tough on a player with freedom, but when you Kirk Gibson a guy who's hurt and actually taking it easy...that's just reinforcing that gulf.

That IM is a huge problem although I suspect it's not true. -- nm

while it is not ideal, he was asked his opinion, and he gave it.

His opinion should be, "I am just a player. Whatever my manager wants is what I will do."

if everyone answered that way, there would be no need for Sports reporting. nm -- nm

because that is what Bonds needed to be great.

If you want the kid to be Ty Cobb, Ricky Henderson or Barry Bonds, that's your call. -- nm

well, the only thing keeping him from being great is him running into walls and diving head first into bases.

We'll see. Thus far, he's a 4 WAR player that people treat like an 8.

Heyward's WAR is inflated heavily from his rookie year; 5 years and it's basically 35% of his career mark.

His WAR this year, (while top 5) is broken down this way (Off. 1.0 - Def. 2.3 - Other .4)

It matters in helping your team win or lose. Teams are not as loose when they play with assholes.
