Holy f*ck "Gettysburg" has not aged well at all.

I can see this being remade as a 3 hour Oscar-bait epic. But in its current form, the pacing is awful, the dialogue is hard swallow, and there are too many set pieces (for instance, numerous times the actors are purposefully posed to emulate an historic photograph).

I can only imagine Marty Sheen, over and over again, looking up from the script and saying "You actually want me to say this?"

As an historical piece recounting a story of the Civil War, "Glory" does a much better job.
