Capstern, those cartons are not liquid, so you cannot merely compare their total volume against the volume of the truck.

For an extreme example, what if they were 20 feet long and only a few inches wide and deep? The volume might be less, but they are too long to fit.
There will be wasted space because you can't fit to each side or the roof without chopping boxes in half (or thereabouts).
