Women and children are dying because Hamas keeps throwing missiles at Israel. The missiles stop, so does the retaliation from Israel.

I think this is incomplete. Netanyahu has decided that it's in Israel's interests to stick with the status quo - a larger Israel and a weak Palestine

Absolutely. But Israel's actions are along the lines of blocking trade and building settlement. Not raining random destruction down on Palestinians.
