Don't get the version without a hard drive, period. (That version also doesn't come with a wireless controller, I believe.)

I don't know what you mean by Live Card, but yes if you want to have a Gold live account than it costs about $50 per year (though sometimes you can find deals). It's not necessary unless you plan to play online against people.
