yeah, i just emailed the department head "politely" explaining my troubles, and we'll see what is said from there . . . meanwhile . . . i am trying ..

to do some damage control. being the paranoid cynic that I am, i fully expect for this to explode, regardless of whatever level of responsibility i do or do not have for all of this (that being said, i *have* been trying to contact my adviser since late May) . . . and I'm trying to do some damage control in the event that things go terribly awry here. i just emailed a professor in the English department expressing my desire to speak with her over "some academic questions" . . . time it critically tight right now, but I'm going to try to get some information in the event that things do disintegrate in my current program and I'll see what options I have as far as continuing my academic career . . .
