I think from a financial perspective, Disney wants the best financial year, they can.

From that perspective, you want both in that financial year as long as you have sufficient films in the following year. Although film profit is really just a drop in the bucket for Disney...
As for Star Wars VII beating Avengers 2. No way. Even if Star Wars VII is great, it's still the Batman Begins/Casino Royale of this film series. It has to kick start a film franchise ruined by prior horrible movies.
The breakout box office films will come after like The Dark Knight and Skyfall did, imo.
