CBS Rock WXRK (K-ROCK)/NEW YORK set to flip to Top 40 as 92.3 NOW this afternoon at 5p (NET NEWS 3/9), bringing a second Top 40 station to the nation's largest market for the first time in years.
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100) has had the format to itself for some time, and has benefited ratings-wise. In the JANUARY 09 ARBITRON PPM 6+ MONDAY-SUNDAY 6a-mid ratings, Z100 was rated as NEW YORK's #2 station, with a 5.4 share -- just 0.1 behind market leader CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLTW (106.7 LITE-FM).
WXRK, as a Rock station, was the 21st-ranked station, with just a 1.5 share ... and trending down.
