Romney's poll #s in Florida (for example) didn't go up after the RNC in Tampa.

Similar results with Obama and the DNC convention in Charlotte.
That says to me that hosting the party convention isn't that relevant.
Of course, Florida's a diverse state - what happens in Tampa doesn't matter much to people in Miami or Jacksonville or the Orlando area. Similar with North Carolina. That may have something to do with it.
