I track expense as a % of revenue for every major expense category. you'd die if you saw my spreadsheet.

it looks like a *bear.* it take no time though to update because I use different cards for each category based on rewards %.
amex: groceries
boa: gas
cap one: misc
thank you: restaurants & entertainment
chase: revolving categories
better balance: subscriptions
etc etc
