Has anyone heard of this or something similar with their car before?

so we bought a new Corolla. Problem is if the car is sitting still, the A/C only works about 50% of the time. Give it gas and works great, pull up to a stop light and bye bye A/C hello hot fucking outside air.
The guys at the dealership look at me like I have 3 heads as they say it isn't possible, but I know when hot air is blowing in my fucking face.
